Why hello there.
I'm so glad you stumbled across my little corner of the world wide web.
i'm savana, founder of sonder design company.

I am the heart, the soul, and the solo entrepreneur behind the name. My favorite part of running my own graphic design business are the connections made with fellow creative souls as we mold their website or brand. When I’m not designing, you’ll likely find me browsing houseplants at my favorite nursery or exploring a wooded trail with my German Shepherd pup, Denali.
I love all things sweet and most likely won’t say no if offered chocolate ice cream or cheesecake. Life is short, right? I’m deeply empathetic, a quiet soul who loves adventuring on a warm summer’s day or in the soft winter snow, and I’ve always been the creative type.
My dad likes to say I always used non-traditional crayons for my coloring pages because I didn’t believe in being stuck in a box with boring colors. I suppose he was right. My childhood was filled with drawing greeting cards for family, traversing the expansive timbers behind our home with a trusty dog at my side, and spending my days deep in my imagination crafting stories about my adventures. I even had a pretty extensive imaginary friend at one point that lived at my play house, and my parents were a little concerned only to be reassured by my teacher that I was just exploring my creativity. And hey, I think I turned out alright. Even though I tried to suppress my creativity for a brief stint when I decided something scientific would be a “cooler career,” I’ve always drifted back to creating.

Sonder Design Company is Sav Creative...
reimagined.
Since 2019, I’ve been crafting websites and brands for small business owners and entrepreneurs. In the past several years, my business has grown more than I could have ever imagined, and I have been able to serve so many amazing clients. But there's always been a little voice telling me I could do more. My process could be streamlined, my client portal could be easier to navigate, my packages could be refined and curated. Rebranding to Sonder Design Company is a huge leap in making all these ideas of “What if it was like this?” or “What if I did this instead?” come to life. I’m so excited to step into this new chapter as Sonder Design Company, we’re truly just getting started.
behind the brand
The Luna moth-a spiritual sign of growth, rebirth and transformation.
The luna moth signifies the growth and exploration of something new. Something fleetingly special and exceptionally beautiful. To catch a glimpse of a luna moth is considered a gift and a deeply spiritual connection to nature, to the state of being, and to the fragility of life itself. Crafting brands and websites that are intentional, transformative and renewing reflect the beauty of the luna moth.
This excerpt from The Inner Wild Woman Studio beautifully states: “The Luna Moth is considered one of the most spiritual and mystical of Spirit Guides. To meet one is a special gift, for when she is in her adult moth state she only lives for about one week. While living through their adult moth life they do not eat, for they have no mouth.
They are born, they transform, they love, they die, and they are again reborn. Their cycles are short, as are our years while we are here. We are reminded to make the most of our moments and to live and love to the fullest.
She is most often seen in the evenings, attracted to the moon and to light. She speaks of our connection to the Feminine, our inner spirit, and our trust in ourselves.
We learn of the importance to find the balance between light and dark, the seen and unseen. She is a reminder that when all is said and done, our healing and sense of love are the ultimate journey.

…Luna moths also signify new beginnings as they represent a continuing quest for truth and knowledge, the gift of intuition, psychic perception and heightened awareness. Things that are associated with “seeing the light”.
Maybe it feels like you’re missing out on your potential in life, you feel a deep longing within, but you’re not sure what it means or where to begin…
You need to know that your life has meaning and who you are serves a greater purpose in this world.”

I’m left-handed. I like to say that makes me more creative. Although it made trying to learn calligraphy with a stylus and ink nearly impossible.
After graduating college, my husband and I went on a two week 7000+ mile road trip across the west coast where we slept in the back of my small SUV for the majority of our nights, visited 9 national parks, climbed 10 mountains and hiked over 70 miles. We got engaged in Mount Rainer National Park on this road trip!
I love live music (Hello, Music City!) and will listen to just about any genre. I love a good coffee shop on a rainy day, although I often have a hard time leaving my cozy coworkers at home.
FUN FACTS
a few more details...
I graduated from Northwest Missouri State University in 2019 with a Bachelor’s degree in digital media, a curriculum consisting of graphic design, web development, marketing, communications, advertising and social media all in one. I followed a bit of a nontraditional path working as a freelance designer soon after graduating college while being employed as an in-house graphic designer for a small apparel & home decor boutique in my quaint college town of Maryville, Missouri. At my core, I want to serve others and tell their story and I’ve found the best way for me to do that is through creating beautiful designs. Embodying sonder feels deeply personal to me as it encompasses my desire to be curious, compassionate, and intentional in my interactions with the world and the humans I cross paths with.
My husband, Max, and I recently moved to Nashville, Tennessee with our two cats, Ferguson & Penelope, and our German Shepherd pup, Denali, for him to complete his Emergency Medicine Residency at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. Prior to this move, we resided in Rochester, Minnesota where he graduated from medical school at the Mayo Clinic Alix School of Medicine. I suppose his future career as an emergency medicine physician is “cool” enough for the both of us, especially since it has given me the freedom to pursue my passion as a designer (and stay at home cat/dog mom) while he pursues his dream of practicing medicine.

In our free time, we love to be outdoors and travel. We’ve been fortunate enough to travel to over 10 National Parks together, and we’ve climbed several mountains and hiked insanely gorgeous trails within these parks. Our very first vacation together consisted of us driving to Colorado in my mom’s old Ford Explorer to visit Rocky Mountain National Park and then climb the tallest 14er in Colorado, Mt. Elbert. We summited this mountain wearing old tennis shoes, carrying heavy school backpacks, no trekking poles, no time to acclimate to the elevation, and little prior hiking experience.
We’ve learned a bit since then, but we always like to reminisce that if we can climb that mountain with such little preparation, we can conquer whatever challenge lies ahead of us. Since then we’ve completed countless hikes including two of the United State’s most dangerous hikes: Angel’s Landing in Zion National Park and the Kalalau Trail along the Na Pali Coast in Kauai.
